what is the Bible

The Bible is the account of God's actions in this world, His Purpose with all creation, and most importantly His Plan of Redemption & Salvation for all mankind. The writing of the Bible took place over 1600 years (approximately 1500BC to 95AD) and is the work of over forty different authors. There are 66 books in the Bible containing an astonishing variety of literary styles. It provides stories about the lives of obedient and disobedient people, battles and journeys, the life of Jesus, and the activity of the early church. All told through narratives and dialogues, proverbs and parables, songs and allegroies, as well as history and prophecy. Yet these 66 books, as varied as they might be, all contain the Unbroken Message of God's Love for us, His Plan of Redemption, and His desire to have a Relationship with us!

what we believe about the Bible

Church of the Nazarene Article of Faith IV: The Holy Scripture

We believe in the plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, by which we understand the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, given by divine inspiration, inerrantly revealing the will of God concerning us in all things necessary to our salvation, so that whatever is not contained therein is not to be enjoined as an article of faith.
